Stickwork: downtown Tulsa

Maybe one of the most unique art sculptures I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Artist Patrick Dougherty and his team of volunteers certainly made a memorable impression. The thought of piles of saplings becoming an amazing piece of art is mind boggling. I have a love of nature, so to see it come to life in the middle of Tulsa is pretty amazing.

Simple Tools of the Trade Become Art

Many years ago after my dad passed away, my sisters and I were prepping his office (really his warehouse of goodies) for a sale. A huge stack of vintage hand saws captured my eye. I put a price on them, no one purchased them. I couldn’t let them go, so they all came home with me. Those beautiful saws now hang on my wall and every guest in my home comments on how wonderful they look. Sometimes you only need to look as far as grandpa’s toolbox for inspiration for your home. Simple vintage paint brushes at an antique shop make the most eye catching display. Recently, a stack of vintage brass stencils came into my possession, I can’t wait to hang them up! Find art in the simple things in life. Things that have worked hard and tell a story all on their own.

Covered Bridge

Dreamy covered bridges in idyllic settings, I am not sure it gets better than this. The age, construction methods, sheer span alone are amazing. Those geometric shapes just draw the eye down the entire expanse. A simple structure makes such beautiful art. These images and shapes inspire my creative side. This gem tucked into the heart of Alabama received some historical restoration so we can all enjoy for many more years to come.
